Today; My Bible verse is:
Galatians 5:16-17
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
To me, I think this verse is very hard for a lot of people; myself included. We always get too caught up in earthly things. This includes school, work, family, friends, fashion, TV, and basically everything in general. I know that I'm one to get way to involved with the computer; and anime. I'm always obsessing over anime, so it's hard for me to keep focused on God. In such a material world, it's hard to keep God #1. It's hard, but I try to always remember; what does anything else matter? In just one-hundred years; what is it going to matter what happened to the characters in my favorite anime's, what I learned in Algebra, How my new hair cut looks, and what happened to Bob and Mary-Sue's relationship? It's not going to mean anything. It's just going to be pointless. So; why immerse yourself in things like this, putting them over God? God has always been, always is, and always will be God. So; isn't it more important how many people you share him with, how many people you help, and what you do for him? Wouldn't it be better to bring a bunch of people to Heaven with you; rather then hang out with them for a few years on Earth?
I think it's very hard to live like this, but in all honesty; when you live life like that - you see life in a new perspective. You learn whats really important, and what doesn't really matter. All I ask for, is that God can use me in some way; and use my life to show others that God is good, and He is the only one that can save us. I'd rather live my life on Earth as a servant for the man who died for my sins, then a servant to the Earthly drama, and trouble. Because I know in my heart, that's just the right thing. These verses also say, "Spirit are against Flesh, and they are opposed to each other." This is really true! The Spirit and Flesh are in a war with each other, and if you live in the Flesh - the Spirit dies. It is our flesh that causes our sinful nature, and we are all sinful in nature. So, if you throw away this Earthly way of thinking, you can learn to live with the Spirit much more easily.
